Areliable and regular soil moisture measurement provides growers with valuable information about the condition of the soil they're growing in. Simply put, soil moisture measurement means recording the amount of moisture in a given volume of soil. However, this limited definition of soil moisture measurement no longer fully covers its function. While volumetric water content (VWC) indicates the percentage of soil moisture, many other values ​​are now being measured.

We use sensors from the METER Group and Acclima . Both are renowned companies that produce exceptionally high-quality and accurate sensors. But a sensor alone isn't enough. As always, it's what you do with the data from that sensor that matters.

Our smart software calculates the VWC percentage not only for "regular soil" but also for "soilless media." This is ideal when, for example, rock wool is used as a substrate instead of traditional soil.

Equally important is calculating the EC value. The EC value is the salt content in your substrate or nutrient solution. This is a good indicator of the available nutrients. Here too, you can view the data in two ways, and we calculate two values. First, we measure the pore EC , or the EC content that ends up in the slab during irrigation. Second, we measure the bulk EC, or the EC that remains after drainage and water uptake by the plant.

Together with the soil temperature, this provides you with important data so you can see what is actually happening in the growing medium.

The online portal clearly presents the various data channels for each sensor. Because you can set the lower and upper limits of permissible or desired values, you'll be notified immediately if any problems arise. This way, reliable data helps you achieve the best results at all times.
