Why test substrates?

Sports surfaces and playgrounds must meet strict safety standards. Regular measurements ensure that these environments remain safe for intensive use.

Hockey

For athletes

A good sports surface helps prevent injuries and ensures athletes can perform optimally. International sports organizations like FIFA, World Rugby, and World Athletics therefore impose requirements on field quality. Certification through reliable measurements is often mandatory.

Kinderen spelen op een speeltoestel in de speeltuin

For children

Frequently Asked Questions
General
Do the devices also work with iOS?

Currently, our apps run on Android. A pre-configured Android smartphone is included with the purchase of our devices.

How often should the device be calibrated?

Annual calibration is recommended. We provide calibration including certification in accordance with EN ISO/IEC 17025.

Can the equipment be used abroad?

Yes, our devices comply with international standards and are used worldwide. Convenient flight cases are available for air transport.

Are spare parts available?

Yes, spare parts and accessories are available with fast delivery within the Netherlands and worldwide shipping.

Is training available?

Yes, comprehensive instruction is provided upon purchase. We also provide training sessions for teams from inspection companies or municipalities.

Sports
Can I test different sports with a single device?

Yes, the AAA-meter is suitable for multiple sports. Simply select the appropriate test protocol (FIFA, World Rugby, etc.) in the app.

Can the equipment be used in the rain?

The devices are designed for use in various weather conditions. In extreme conditions, it is recommended to postpone measurements for optimal results.

Can I test old artificial turf pitches?

Yes, our devices are suitable for both new and existing pitches. Regular testing helps monitor the aging process.

How long does a complete field test take?

Depending on the field size and the number of test points, a FIFA test usually takes 2–4 hours. Wireless technology saves significant time compared to traditional methods.

What is the difference between a field test and a lab test?

In field-test mode, measurements are taken on the installed pitch. In lab-test mode, samples or test setups can be measured. The app offers both modes.

Play
What is the difference between Platinum and Single Drop?

The Platinum HIC-meter is for test method 1 (new installations, certification) with extensive reporting. The Single Drop is for test method 2 (existing playgrounds), and is simpler and more affordable.

How often should playground surfaces be tested?

At a minimum, annually according to most guidelines. For intensive use or after extreme weather conditions, interim inspections are recommended.

Can I test different types of surfaces?

Yes, our HIC meters are suitable for all impact-attenuating surfaces: rubber tiles, wood chips, sand, artificial turf, and more.

Can the meter be used in the rain?

The meters are weather-resistant. Measuring during rain is not recommended because moisture affects measurement results, especially with wood chips and sand.

How fast are the measurements?

A single measurement takes just a few seconds. For a complete playground (multiple test points), it usually takes 30–60 minutes, including reporting.

What if the playground surface does not comply?

Then action is required. Depending on the type of surface, this may involve adding extra material, replacing the surface, or lowering the fall height of the play equipment. Temporary closure of the site may be necessary until the surface is safe again.
